Samsung’s One UI 7 Rollout is a Mess—And Users Are Not Happy

Samsung isn’t just another player in the Android ecosystem. They are the ecosystem for millions of users. If they get it wrong, it reflects on the platform as a whole.

Samsung is usually one of the best when it comes to Android updates. But this time, things haven’t gone well. The new One UI 7 update, which is based on Android 15, started rolling out recently, and it’s already causing a lot of problems.

Instead of being a smooth upgrade, the update has been delayed, paused, and full of bugs. And the worst part? Samsung hasn’t explained what’s going on.

One UI 7 has a lot of great features. It’s faster, more secure, and looks better. But after Samsung started sending the update to newer phones like the Galaxy S24, users ran into serious issues.

Some couldn’t even unlock their phones. Others saw weird lock screen problems or experienced faster battery drain. There were also reports of bugs in Samsung’s Secure Folder feature.

Soon after, Samsung stopped the update without a clear reason. They just said they’d update the schedule later. No details. No answers.

Now the new update timeline is out—and it’s disappointing. Some phones that were supposed to get One UI 7 in April are now pushed back to May, June, or even July. That’s a long wait, especially since Android 15 came out last October.

To make things more confusing, details about the next update—One UI 8 based on Android 16—have already started to leak. So while users are still waiting for One UI 7, Samsung is already working on the next version. It just doesn’t make sense.

You might think, “It’s just a software update.” But updates are important. They improve your phone’s performance, security, and features. When an update goes wrong, it can ruin the experience, even on expensive phones.

Samsung usually does a good job with updates. But this time, they just messed up the highly anticipated One UI update. Things like this can damage trust. People want to know that their phones will stay up-to-date and work properly. After all, they paid a premium price for it.

But even those who didn’t splurge on a flagship still made a choice. Whether it’s a mid-range or entry-level device, these users put their faith in Samsung when they easily could’ve chosen another brand.

What Samsung can do

Right now, Samsung needs to do two things: fix the problems, which they’re currently doing. But most importantly, talk to users clearly. Don’t just pause updates without saying why. Don’t make people wait without a real explanation. And don’t let other companies like Xiaomi and OnePlus do a better job at this.

Samsung is the biggest Android phone brand in the world. They should be leading, not struggling with updates like this.

If you’re still waiting for the update, you’re not alone. And if you’re feeling frustrated, it’s totally fair. But the good news is that earlier today, the U.S.-locked Galaxy S24 Ultra began receiving its second One UI 7 update.

The update came in at 441.51 MB, includes the April 1, 2025, security patch, and seems to fix the critical bug where users were locked out of their devices post-update and other bugs.

That’s a big relief, especially for those who installed the first version and ended up with multiple issues while trying to use their phones.

And it’s not just the U.S. — the stable update is now expanding globally, hitting regions like India, the UAE, and other parts of the Middle East.
