Everything you need to know about Samsung Galaxy S24

7 Min Read

Although Apple is giving Samsung a run for their money, the latter delivered better this year. The latest three flagships dominating the market as the best phones money can buy, are the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 PLUS, and S23 Ultra.

Samsung released the last entries back in February 2023 and we expect the next entries to be available by February or January 2024, as some would suggest.

Rumors surrounding the release suggest the new S series will continue its growth in mobile performance and battery life.

At the moment, we are a month into the release of the Samsung Galaxy S24 line, so let’s cut to the chase and see what we can expect from Samsung this coming year.

Samsung Galaxy S24 release date

Samsung launched the Galaxy S22 line at the Galaxy Unpacked in February 2022. Then, around the same time the following year, it released the Galaxy S23 phones with sales starting February 17, 2023.

We expect the same for the Galaxy S24 line. Multiple date rumors are coming in, with most of them pointing to January as the most likely time of release.

Some deliver more specific dates pointing to January 17 as the Samsung Galaxy S24 official release date. And pre-order for the Galaxy S24 will be on the 18th of January, while shipping will take off on January 30th.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Price

Currently, information concerning the price of the new S series has been faint. Therefore, we are using this year’s Samsung Galaxy S23 price as a marker to predict possible price tags.

We predict that the Samsung Galaxy S24, S24 Plus and S24 Ultra would cost around $799.99/£849/AU$1,349, $999.99/£1,049/AU$1,649, & $1,199.99/£1,249/AU$1,949 respectively.

Some other leaks and rumors suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra would cost more than the current S23 Ultra. So if you want to get it, you better start saving right now.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Colors

According to rumors and tips gathered online, the Galaxy S24 line would sport four colors: Black/Gray/Yellow/Violet. Also, just like the Galaxy 23 line, additional color options will be available only through the Samsung website.

The tip claims that orange, light green and light blue will be the available extra colors. Should the rumors prove true, this would mark the first S series line, excluding the color white since the S9. I know the S23 Cream looks white, but that is de facto white, not pure white.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Design

We are likely going to see the same screen sizes as its predecessors, the Samsung Galaxy S23 line.

The Galaxy S24 has a 6.1-inch display, the S24 Plus 6.6 inch, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s a 6.8-inch display. That if and only if they maintain the same display size as their predecessors. Or we may expect slightly larger screen sizes at 6.2-inch FHD+ screen, 6.7-inch QHD+, and 6.8-inch QHD+ for the S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra respectively.

According to another leak, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus may come with a WQHD display just like the S22 Ultra.

For the display type, we are expecting the same 120Hz AMOLED display (2340 x 1080 pixels) on the S24 from the Galaxy S23. The S24 Plus and S24 Ultra may get the AMOLED 2x panel (1440 x 3088 pixels)—including the dynamic refresh rate scaling between 1Hz to 120Hz, which might be maxed at 144Hz.

Also, the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus could adjust their refresh rate between 1Hz to 120Hz dynamically. If this comes to pass, it would help improve the battery life of the S24 line.

There are also tips that a new M13 OLED panel will be on the S24 Ultra, possibly on the S24 and S24 Plus too.

The tips also state that all Samsung Galaxy S24 phones will have their peak brightness at 2,600 nits. If Samsung accomplishes this, the Samsung Galaxy S24 phone will become the brightest phone in the world.

Other information suggests that the actual aesthetics of the Galaxy S24 and S24 Ultra might differ from what we have seen so far.

This is because Samsung recently hired a former Mercedes Benz design executive, Hubert H. Lee, to lead its design department in 2023.

The S24 and S24 Plus will have smaller bezels with slightly flatter edges. This could mean a sampled design from the iPhone 15 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. Also, the Ultra may sport the Titanium sides similar to the iPhone 15 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Camera

Tipsters claim that Samsung is swapping the S23 Ultra’s telephoto sensor for a “New Solution” on the S24 Ultra.

Also, it would adopt “Gen4 optics” to improve its already amazing zoom capabilities. This means the possibility of a 150x zoom and a wider 2.5-2.9 aperture providing better low-light capabilities than the S23.

Another source states that these upgrades will allow a scalable optical zoom of 3x-10x. But the same source updated the tips, stating that these features won’t be happening, even though there were plans for them.

The camera setup may include a 200MP main camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, a 10MP 3x telephoto camera, and possibly a 10MP 10x telephoto camera.

The Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus will have the same 50MP main camera as the S23/S24, respectively. The front camera, on the other hand, will not get an upgrade.

Samsung Galaxy S24 Battery Life

The S24 Plus will have a 4,900mAh battery, 5,000mAh for the Ultra, and 4,000mAh for the S24.

That would mean a slight upgrade from its predecessors, except for the Ultra, which remains the same.

As for charging, the S24 Plus and S24 Ultra will deliver a 45W charge, while the S24 has a 25W charge.
