Xiaomi has released the first flip phone with the ability to print pictures using a separate portable printer. Although providing more capabilities, the Mix Flip will have a starting price of 5,999 yuan ($825), while the portable printer, including photo paper, costs 499 yuan ($68)
Preorders will begin on Friday, while deliveries start on Tuesday.
At the product launch, Lei Jun, the Xiaomi founder, also showcased the Mix Fold 4, which has a starting price of 8,999 yuan, similar to the prior version.
A notable feature of the Mix Fold 4 is its ability to handle simultaneous translations with one language on each side of the screen. However, the Chinese company did not elaborate on artificial intelligence possibilities.
Lei also warned that supplies of the portable printer are tight as the company is venturing into the automotive industry. This switch is a result of United States sanctions on the company in January 2021.
