Just after 13:30 GMT, reports began to flood Downdetector; roughly 20,000 listeners worldwide could not browse artists, search for tracks, or stream new music on Spotify.

Fortunately, any songs already downloaded remained on the device, so workouts and commutes didn’t grind to a full stop. However, the inability to explore or discover left many tapping refresh in frustration.

Spotify was quick to acknowledge the disruption, assuring users via social media that engineers were on the case.

Social feeds lit up with comments from disgruntled fans. One user, @DeadlyPG, voiced his frustration: “Fix it fast, you’re embarrassing me in front of fine shyt.” Some users even thought of jumping the fence to Apple Music or YouTube Music if stability issues persist.

Within hours, the platform announced full recovery, assuring its 675 million–strong community that everything was “back up and functioning normally.” While speculation briefly swirled about security breaches, Spotify was clear: no hack had taken place, and the root cause remains under wraps.
