Pan African Towers (PAT), a prominent telecommunications infrastructure provider in Nigeria serving clients such as 9mobile and Spectranet, has announced the appointment of Oladipo Badru as the acting chief executive officer, effective November 2024. Badru, who previously held the position of Chief Financial Officer, succeeds Azeez Amida, who recently resigned after two and a half years to other opportunities.

Adefolarin Ogunsanya, chairman of Pan African Towers, praised Amida for his contributions to the company’s growth, stating, “We wish him well in his future endeavors.” He expressed confidence in Badru’s leadership, emphasizing the importance of continuity as he collaborates closely with the executive management team to uphold the company’s mission.

Under Badru’s leadership, Pan African Towers aims to enhance its competitive stance within the telecom tower infrastructure market, which is currently dominated by major players, including IHS Towers, American Tower Corporation (ATC), and Helios Towers. PAT currently operates 764 active towers across Nigeria, catering to over 1,200 tenants, which include various mobile network operators (MNOs) and internet service providers (ISPs) like 9mobile, ntel, Bitflux, Spectranet, and Smile Communications.

In a significant move to bolster its growth, PAT secured undisclosed funding from Development Partners International (DPI) and Verod Capital on November 27. This investment is intended to help the company address Nigeria’s pressing infrastructure challenges and is part of a broader strategy to triple its tower footprint in the coming years. Additionally, PAT plans to explore potential acquisitions and partnerships to further enhance its market position.
