The chip manufacturing company, NVIDIA, announced that there are deals with Johnson & Johnson, to enable the use of generative AI in surgery. And deals with GE Healthcare, to improve medical imaging.

This direction by NVIDIA shows how relevant the healthcare sector is to the company’s overall ambitions. Earlier on at the NVIDIA 2024 GTC AI conference, a few AI-powered healthcare tools were launched, promising to revolutionize the healthcare sector.

The reason why Nvidia is popular today is because it basically provided the plumbing and technology for something that could you not have been done simply before or if you could have done it, you would need twice as much time and money. Healthcare, whether its biotechnology, chemicals, or drugs discovery is a ver powerful area.

According to Raj Hoshi, the senior vice president at Moody’s rating and a technology analyst

The biotech sector has a promising potential to yield great medical and financial benefits to humanity once you apply the use of AI. According to Tech Company, AI can be used to find drugs to cure diseases that were once deemed impossible to cure and discover the uses of the drugs, which did not provide cures to the diseases they were created for.

However, drug creation is a dangerous process, which can cost millions, if not billions, is time-consuming, and lastly, has a high probability of being a failure. An issue that NVIDIA plans to reduce or totally eradicate with the help of AI.

In a statement by NVIDIA’s Chief Financial Officer, Colette Kress, she mentions that generative AI and digital biology are aiding in the reinvention of drug discovery, medical imaging, surgery, and wearable devices.

According to Kress, NVIDIA has been building its domain expertise in healthcare for the past decade, seeing the launch of the NVIDIA Clara healthcare platform and the NVIDIA BioNeMo, which is a generative AI service provider created to build and deploy unique AI foundation models for computer-aided drug discoveries.

One can say that, the inclusion of AI into the healthcare sector will ensure that production time, and costs are slashed drastically. Nevertheless, healthcare workers are concerned about the use of AI in the healthcare industry. Most of them show their anxiety about adopting AI at work.
