The ride-hailing platform Bolt Nigeria announced that as part of its updated rewards program, drivers will now receive discounts on fuel and insurance bills.
This stems as a result of the rising cost of fuel in Nigeria affecting the operations of the ride-hailing industry, making it less lucrative than it was. The situation has turned many potential drivers away from the business as operational costs outweigh the income as well as the rising inflation in the country.
Therefore, Bolt Nigeria took the initiative to offer its drivers fuel discounts to help navigate through the increase in fuel prices in the country. In addition, the company is offering car insurance discounts to help drivers work out any unexpected repairs.
The purpose of these new initiatives by the largest ride-hailing company in Nigeria, according to its Nigerian Manager, Yahaya Mohammed, is to ensure that its drivers are continually happy doing their jobs.
