Control Center on iOS 18

iOS 18 is set to bring some fantastic updates to the Control Center on your iPhone. Here’s what you can look forward to:

What’s New in Control Center?

  1. Revamped Design: Expect a fresh new look for the Control Center, making it even easier to use.
  2. Updated Music Widget: The music widget is getting an upgrade, so controlling your tunes will be smoother and more enjoyable.
  3. Improved HomeKit Integration: Better integration with HomeKit means more seamless control of your smart home devices.

Customization for HomeKit

Right now, iOS tries to guess which six HomeKit accessories you want to see in the Control Center. But, it doesn’t always get it right.

iMessage Revamped

Apple is introducing some exciting new features for its messaging app!

First off, you’ll be able to create your own emojis using generative AI technology. If you miss any texts, don’t worry—AI recaps will catch you up on what you missed.

They’re also updating Tapbacks with new icons, and you’ll now be able to add effects to individual words, not just whole messages. Plus, there will be smart reply suggestions powered by Apple’s on-device Ajax LLM to help you respond faster.

Another big update is that Apple will support RCS this year. This means you’ll get read receipts, typing indicators, and high-quality videos and images when texting with Android users via iMessage.

AI-powered Notes

Exciting new features are coming to Notes! Soon, you’ll be able to ask for AI-generated recaps of your notes, making it easier to review key points. Plus, GenAI will assist with transcribing audio recordings right within your notes.

The app will also support in-app audio recording, and AI will help summarize those recordings for you. If you work with math, the Math Notes feature will be a game-changer.

It can create graphs and solve equations by recognizing and processing the text of your mathematical equations. You might even get help with auto-completing those equations as you type.

These updates are part of a bigger project called Project Greymatter, which aims to bring advanced AI tools to core apps like Safari, Photos, and Notes, according to Bloomberg.
