MTN Nigeria has announced the appointment of Yahaya Ibrahim as the new Chief Technical Officer (CTO) and Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), effective Monday, October 14, 2024.
Yahaya Ibrahim: A Leader in Technology Innovation
Yahaya Ibrahim, a veteran at MTN Nigeria since 2002, has been instrumental in the deployment of Nigeria’s first 4G and 5G networks, establishing MTN MTN Nigeria as a frontrunner in advanced technology. As the General Manager of Network Implementation in 2015, he oversaw the extensive rollout of over 37,000 kilometers of fiber optic infrastructure.
Ibrahim holds a Bachelor’s degree in Statistics from the University of Abuja and a Master’s degree in Telecommunications from Birmingham City University. He has also completed executive management programs at Lagos Business School and Harvard Business School, further enhancing his expertise in the field.
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka: Driving Marketing Excellence
Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka steps into the role of MTN Nigeria’s CMO, succeeding Adia Sohwo. She began her journey at MTN Nigeria in 2001 as a Corporate Sales Executive and has since held several key leadership positions, including Senior Manager of Corporate Account, General Manager of Enterprise Sales, and Chief Broadband Officer.
Ikenna-Emeka has played a critical role in the development of MTN’s fixed broadband services, including Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) and Fibre To The Home (FTTH), significantly contributing to the nation’s connectivity. Under her leadership, the fixed broadband subscriber base has grown to over 3 million.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geology from the University of Calabar and an MBA in Management from the University of Manchester. She is a Fellow who studied at the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), the Institute of Sales and Marketing Management of Nigeria (ISMMN), and executive programs at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Stanford, and Columbia. At the moment, she is pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at Cranfield University’s School of Management.
