MainOne, a leading digital infrastructure service provider in West Africa, has successfully reinstated services to certain affected customers following the recent undersea cable disruption in Cote d’Ivoire.

On March 15, 2024, MainOne announced the commencement of repair works on its undersea cables, with an estimated resolution time of approximately five weeks. MainOne also stated that the repair timeline initially provided pertains specifically to fixing the submarine cable fault, rather than full-service provision.

This disruption has significantly impeded internet access across several African nations, highlighting the critical role of submarine cables in facilitating communication and internet connectivity in the region.

MainOne, alongside other submarine communications cable owners such as the West Africa System (WACS), Africa Coast to Europe (ACE), and SAT3, faced challenges due to the cable cut.

We have already reinstated services to certain customers and are diligently working towards restoring services to others by leveraging available capacity on alternative cable systems.

MainOne remains dedicated to minimizing service disruptions and upholding its reputation as a reliable digital infrastructure provider in West Africa.
