We are just a few hours away from Apple’s most anticipated event of the year, Wonderlust, and the excitement in the air is refreshing. Apple is all set to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 15 lineup, which includes the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra). These new iPhones promise substantial upgrades over their predecessors, making the launch event a highly anticipated moment for tech enthusiasts worldwide.

As the launch draws near, the internet is abuzz with rumors and speculations about what the upcoming iPhones will bring. What makes this launch even more special for Indian users is that, for the first time, Apple will be releasing a ‘made in India’ iPhone right from the start.

According to Bloomberg, the iPhone 15 will be manufactured in India, raising expectations of a possible price reduction. But in reality, will the manufacturing location have an impact on the iPhone’s final price? Insider sources suggested that the company is actively working to increase the volume of iPhones produced in India.

iPhone 15 Price in India

First and foremost, the iPhone 15 isn’t the first iPhone to be manufactured in India and probably won’t be the last. Earlier models, such as the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14, were also ‘made in India.’ However, this localization of production did not translate into lower prices for Indian consumers.

To put it into perspective, the 128 GB variant of the iPhone 13 launched in India with a price tag of Rs 79,900. Similarly, the base variant of the iPhone 14 was priced at Rs 79,900 upon its India launch. At the time of their respective launches, the US prices for both these phones were USD 799. This means that the Indian prices for these iPhones were essentially the US prices multiplied by 100.

Based on this pricing pattern, it’s likely that Apple will follow the same approach this year, with the iPhone 15 being priced in India at the US price multiplied by 100. So, the manufacturing of the iPhone in India is unlikely to have any significant effect on its final price.

When will the iPhone 15 Arrive in India?

While the iPhone 15 might not be affordable in India even though it’s locally made there, there’s a silver lining in terms of availability. Typically, when new iPhones are launched globally, consumers in the US, Europe, the UK, and other major markets get immediate access to them, while Indian consumers often have to wait for a month or more. However, this year could bring a change to that trend.

An Economic Times report earlier this month indicated that Apple is planning to introduce the iPhone 15 in India much sooner than in previous years. The tech giant aims to narrow the gap between the global launch and the Indian release, potentially even synchronizing the two.
