How to Access Gemini Pro on Google’s chatbot, “Bard”

4 Min Read

Google recently introduced its latest innovation, the Gemini AI model, which showcased its capabilities. While a portion of Gemini, the “Pro variant” is currently accessible within the Bard chatbot, it gets even better with ultra.

Gemini Pro is seamlessly integrated into the Bard chatbot. This feature is not only free to use but also extends to Pixel 8 Pro users, who can experience Gemini’s influence in their AI-suggested text replies on WhatsApp while using Google’s virtual keyboard, the Gboard.

It’s worth mentioning that Gemini Nano, a smaller version of the model is already available in the Pixel 8 Pro for WhatsApp replies.

For now, only the text-based version of Gemini is available in Bard, with future releases expected to introduce multimodal capabilities, enabling the chatbot to process various input forms and generate diverse outputs.

Then comes Gemini Ultra, the “most capable mode.” With this enabled, Bard can then handle complex tasks across text, images, audio, video, and code.

While Gemini operates exclusively in English presently, Google has plans to expand language support in the near future. However, as with previous AI updates, Gemini is not accessible in the European Union at present.

Contrary to its premium-sounding name, Gemini Pro is offered as a free update for Bard users. Google’s subscription model comes into play with its more recent AI models, if you want to try something more than the ordinary.

While Gemini Ultra, the maxed advanced version is teased for a release in 2024, details on subscription plans remain undisclosed. In comparison, a monthly subscription to ChatGPT Plus with GPT-4 is priced at $20. So we could be expecting something similar to that.

How to Accessing Gemini Pro on Bard

To experience Gemini Pro, users with a Google account can simply visit the Bard website and log in. If you don’t have a Google account yet, you must create one before you can use Bard.

As a matter of fact, all Google service like YouTube, Google Workspace, Adsense, Google Play, other Apps and Cloud Services relies on a Google account (your Gmail account) to function, and Bard is no different.

Gemini Pro is currently an experimental feature, and users may encounter software glitches in chatbot responses. Bard’s strength lies in its integration with various Google services, offering features like message summarization by tagging @Gmail and exploring topics with videos by tagging @YouTube. While this is promising, these integrations may still have some bugs to be addressed and fix.

Gemini still has a long way to go before it reaches near perfection. While you experiment with Gemini Pro in Bard, watch out for common chatbot traits — this could be some misinformation or disinformation. So, don’t always rely on every response given. If you think something doesn’t add up, do more research outside Bard.
