According to Google, an AI assistant that can highlight important moments in your life is in development. “How does this happen?” is the question spreading around. Google answered by saying that this AI assistant will analyze your photos, files, and search history to tell your life story. Well, that’s convenient.
This nit bit of information comes from CNBC, which discovered that Google recently held an “internal summit” through certain documents where the company presented a new project called Project Ellman.
An AI that will access your files in your Google account and utilize written biographies and other content to understand the storyline. With huge claims, this AI assistant can predict the day you were born, who your parents are, and your siblings, if you have any.
Also, it can identify your friends, events, and places you’ve been to and know what kind of food you like. That’s a bold move from Google.
The Ellman Chat
Presenting the Ellman Chat, the ChatGPT capable of answering near-impossible questions. But it requires the user to upload content. This is reminiscent of memories on Google Photos but on a larger scale, and users wonder if this was the plan all along. An aspect that could be one of the underlying uses of this AI is in product analysis.
For example, it can tell which product a user is likely to buy or, your future travel plans plus other interests just by learning what websites you frequent. I smell controversies, and Google might be biting more than they can chew here.
Powering Project Ellman is Google’s new large language model (LLM) called Gemini. This is because Gemini is multimodal and accepts multiple forms of input aside from texts, which needs a lot of data to keep up to date. But where would the flow of content be coming from?
Fortunately, Google relayed that this is simply an early internal exploration of possibilities. This means that no one is sure if Project Ellman will ever be released to the public. But if it will, the developers would ensure that the primary aim is to provide usefulness to people while upholding privacy.
