While most major retailers launched Nintendo Switch 2 preorders at midnight (ET) on April 24th — and almost immediately sold out, GameStop has taken a different approach that’s giving fans a better chance to secure the console.

Unlike other platforms that focused solely on online drops, GameStop is offering two options:

  • Option 1: In-store pre-orders, which began when GameStop locations opened on April 24th.
  • Option 2: Online pre-orders. This went live at 11 AM ET / 8 AM PT, giving shoppers a more reasonable time window.

This approach helps reduce online traffic congestion and makes preordering more accessible for customers who prefer in-person purchases or miss early online drops.

However, some users have reported that GameStop’s product page for the Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle appears to be down, likely due to high demand or technical site issues.

The page going down isn’t too alarming — this kind of thing is common during high-traffic product launches. It’s likely just a temporary issue, and the listing should be back online soon once things stabilize on GameStop’s end.

Switch 2 Pricing and Inclusions

The Nintendo Switch 2 is priced at $449.99 for the standard edition, which includes the console itself, a pair of redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers with magnetic attachment, a new C-button for instant access to Nintendo’s GameChat feature, a revised dock, a Joy-Con grip, wrist straps, a USB-C charging cable, an AC adapter, and an HDMI cable.

For those looking for added value, the Mario Kart World bundle is available for $499.99 and comes with everything in the standard package plus a digital copy of Mario Kart World — a $79.99 game — at a discounted rate.

$449.99Available only through Fall 2025 or while supplies last

This limited-time bundle is expected to be available through fall 2025 or while supplies last. By giving people two ways to preorder, GameStop makes the whole process less stressful and more accessible for anyone trying to buy the Switch 2.

If you missed out at midnight elsewhere, GameStop is currently your best shot at locking in a Switch 2 preorder — whether you want the standalone console or the value-packed Mario Kart bundle.
