Based on the post shared by ParrotSWD on X, Apple seems to be in the early stages of developing a more budget-friendly iteration of its Watch Ultra or Watch Ultra 2. The user has uploaded images of a smartwatch bearing a striking resemblance to the Watch Ultra. According to ParrotSWD‘s words, “I tagged them, it’s a photo from the FCC database. Apple submitted a pretty early proto for some reason.”

This wearable has two key distinctions when compared to Apple’s top-tier smartwatches. The action button on this prototype is slightly different when compared with the one found on the Watch Ultra. At a glance, one might assume it’s made from plastic, which it could be.

If Apple eventually pulls this off, this will target users who want something modern but not expensive like the Watch Ultra lineup. We also noticed that the back panel of the device is finished in black—this is different from the Watch Ultra models but still maintains the design language of the Watch Series.

As of now, details regarding the name or model number of this smartwatch are still unknown. However, if it happens to be a budget-friendly alternative to the Watch Ultra, the best guess is that Apple could potentially name it the Watch Ultra SE (Special Edition). This would have been named Watch FE (Fan Edition) if Samsung were in the position of making this.
