After a two-month suspension due to data privacy concerns, the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek is once again available for download in South Korea.
The Chinese AI app had been removed from app stores in February 2025 after South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC) found that DeepSeek was transferring user data without proper consent.

In response to regulatory inspections, DeepSeek has updated its privacy policy to align with South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act.
The revised policy now allows users to deny the transfer of their personal data to entities in China and the United States.
The PIPC confirmed that DeepSeek voluntarily reinstated the app on platforms like Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store after incorporating at least some of the agency’s recommendations.
Despite the updates, DeepSeek has yet to release an official statement about the app’s reinstatement on the Play Store and App Store following its earlier removal.
