Apple is expected to introduce four iPhone models in the upcoming year; the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro series were announced on September 12, 2023, during the Apple Event at Apple Park in Cupertino, California. Pre-orders began 3 days after the event and was made available on September 22, 2023.
We could say it’s too early to predict what the new iPhone will look like because we have more than 10 months left before the next iPhone arrives. However, there has been a series of leaks providing some insights into the next iPhone lineup, which includes the display, processor, and camera specifications.
The most recent leak, disclosed by @MajinBuOfficial on X, suggests that the front display could feature punch-hole camera cutouts and Face ID hardware on the iPhone 16, though not finalized.
@Jdechill responded to @MajinBuOfficial post by saying “They are not gonna change the pill design after only two gens, no way this is happening for the 16.” Replacing Dynamic Island just after two years isn’t just the Apple way of doing things.
Apple has not officially in any way said they would be adopting the punch-hole display for the iPhone 16 Pro. If there is any chance that Apple is going to use a punch hole, which I doubt, they may want to test it out first on the next iPhone SE series. If not, we might have to wait until iPhone 17 to see a punch-hole cutout on an iPhone device.
The render image shows a larger cutout punch hole display. Compared to some Android devices with tiny punch holes, it further pushes my stand to 95% that Apple will not go this route, even though the big cutout suggests the inclusion of Face ID hardware alongside the camera.
