Apple has just announced a groundbreaking update to their iPad Pro lineup. This new iPad Pro boasts a stunningly thin and light design, a world-class display, and the next generation of Apple silicon, the M4 chip.
Super Slim and Portable
The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes: an 11-inch and a 13-inch model. Both are incredibly thin and light, with the 11-inch model measuring just 5.3 mm and the 13-inch model coming in at an even slimmer 5.1 mm. Despite being incredibly thin, both models are just as strong as previous iPad Pros. They’re also lighter, making them perfect for taking on the go.
Unparalleled Viewing Experience
The star of the show might be the new display. Apple is calling it the Ultra Retina XDR display, and it features state-of-the-art tandem OLED technology. This tech uses two OLED panels to deliver phenomenal brightness, reaching an incredible 1,000 nits for SDR and HDR content, and a peak of 1,600 nits for HDR.
The display also offers sub-millisecond control over color and luminance, resulting in exceptional detail, vibrant colors, and incredible responsiveness. For professionals working in color-critical environments, a new nano-texture glass option is available to minimize glare.
Powered by M4
The incredibly thin design and powerful display wouldn’t be possible without the M4 chip. This next-generation chip delivers a huge leap in performance over previous models. It features an entirely new display engine that unlocks the full potential of the Ultra Retina XDR display.
The CPU offers up to four performance cores and six efficiency cores, resulting in up to 1.5x faster CPU performance than the M2 chip.
The M4 also boasts a next-generation GPU and the most powerful Neural Engine ever in an iPad. This translates to faster performance for everything you do on your iPad Pro, from editing photos and videos to running demanding creative apps.
Camera
The new iPad Pro comes with an updated camera system, but the focus seems to be more on the front-facing camera for video conferencing and document scanning:
- Rear Camera: Still a 12MP wide camera, likely offering improved image quality, better textures, and better low light performance compared to previous models. It also has a new adaptive True Tone flash specifically designed for improved document scanning.
- Front Camera: Now a 12MP Ultra Wide camera with Center Stage, which is ideal for video conferencing in landscape mode, especially when the iPad Pro is attached to a Magic Keyboard or Smart Folio.
Enhanced Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard
The new iPad Pro is also compatible with a new Apple Pencil Pro, which features new capabilities like a pressure sensor for quick tool switching and a custom haptic engine for a more natural writing experience. Additionally, a new Magic Keyboard is available, featuring a thinner and lighter design, a function row for quick access to controls, and a larger trackpad with haptic feedback.
Packed with iPadOS Features
The new iPad Pro takes full advantage of the latest iPadOS features, including Stage Manager for multitasking, Reference Mode for color-critical workflows, and powerful AI capabilities. Additionally, Logic Pro for iPad 2 and Final Cut Pro for iPad 2 are getting major updates with new features designed to streamline the creative process.
Availability and Pricing
The new iPad Pro is available to order starting today, May 7th, with availability in stores beginning May 15th. Pricing starts at $999 for the 11-inch Wi-Fi model and $1,299 for the 13-inch Wi-Fi model. The new Apple Pencil Pro starts at $129, and the new Magic Keyboard starts at $299.
This new iPad Pro is sure to be a hit with creatives, professionals, and anyone who needs a powerful and portable tablet.
