While it's not loaded with flashy overhauls, the update introduces several practical enhancements built upon One UI 7

Let’s get one thing out of the way—One UI 8 looks and feels very familiar. At first glance, the differences compared to One UI 7 are subtle at best. It’s not a bad thing, though.

One UI 7 brought some big visual and functional upgrades, so it makes sense that Samsung is now choosing to refine rather than reinvent.

Although we’re still awaiting the full One UI 7 release on many devices, this leaked build (spotted on a Galaxy Z Flip 6) offers a glimpse of what’s on deck for July’s official launch of Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.

There’s no bold redesign or flashy new interface here—just minor adjustments that aim to make the user experience smoother and more polished.

What’s New in One UI 8

1. Broader Access to “Brief”

Samsung’s AI assistant feature, Now Brief, is finally made available beyond the S25 series. It was missing from the S24 lineup when One UI 7 dropped, but that’s about to change. While it’s not groundbreaking in its current form, it shows promise, and if Samsung can build on what they demoed last year, it could become useful.

2. Smarter Quick Share

File sharing is getting a much-needed upgrade. Instead of awkward visibility timers, Quick Share now separates its interface into Send and Receive tabs. Want to accept files? Just switch to receive mode, and your phone becomes discoverable—temporarily. It’s easier, cleaner, and more privacy-friendly.

3. Expanded Log‑Video Support

Samsung is expanding its Log video support to more foldables, including the Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. For mobile creators who like to color-grade their footage later, this is a solid win—no need to upgrade to the absolute latest flagship just for advanced video options.

4. Polished Visuals

Design-wise, there are some slight refinements. Menu options in apps like Gallery and File Manager are getting rounded backgrounds and smoother visuals. Nothing dramatic, but the UI does feel more consistent and polished.

What we’re seeing now is just a test build—Samsung is likely to add more features before the official release, including additional AI functionality, performance improvements, and maybe even a few visual surprises.

The full rollout is expected to happen alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 in July. So if you’re not impressed yet, remember: this is just the beginning.

What about the One UI 7 update?

Well, about the update, if your phone hasn’t received One UI 7 yet, you’re not alone. Samsung had to pause the update in some regions due to a bug that prevented users from unlocking their devices. Thankfully, that issue has been resolved, and the rollout is back on track.

However, flagships from the last two years should get the update this month. Other models will likely receive it gradually through May and June.

One UI 8 isn’t trying to blow minds—it’s focused on polishing what’s already working. If you liked One UI 7, you’ll probably appreciate the subtle improvements coming in the next release.

Just don’t expect a huge leap forward. This is more like a quiet tune-up than a major upgrade. And that’s perfectly fine. Sometimes, less is more.
