One UI 7 was designed to be more than just an aesthetic overhaul—Samsung set out to push the boundaries of mobile AI and intuitive design.

This update promised to redefine the Galaxy user experience. Based on Android 15, the update was eagerly awaited worldwide for its advanced AI integrations, improved user interface design, and several new productivity and creative features.

Samsung began the rollout of One UI 7 on April 7, 2025. The Galaxy S24 and similar devices in regions like Europe, South Korea, and parts of Asia began receiving the update on this day.

Shortly after the initial release, reports began to surface about a “serious bug” in One UI 7 that affected device unlocking—particularly among Galaxy S24 series users in South Korea. Then followed by delayed rollouts in the United States and other regions.

The firmware initially uploaded has been removed from OTA servers. As for the EU and Korean models, that was also paused earlier.

According to Android Authority, a spokeperson from Samsung shared this;

The One UI 7 rollout schedule is being updated to ensure the best possible experience. The new timing and availability will be shared shortly.

Samsung’s phased approach to releasing updates allowed the company to manage load and roll out troubleshooting fixes incrementally. This is a precautionary measure to avoid global disaster.

Based on reports, users were unable to unlock their phones properly after installing the update.

In addition to the unlocking issues, other security concerns was reported. It’s a flaw in the Secure Folder feature where private photos could inadvertently be exposed via auto-generated Stories in the Gallery app.

Although this vulnerability can be fixed with a quick patch, many users are not ready to take a chance.

Users who had already installed One UI 7 are expected to receive an update addressing these issues.

On reddit and X, the sentiment is mixed. On one hand, many users celebrate the sleek new interface and AI enhancements.

On the other hand, the paused rollout and reports of unresolved bugs have left many disappointed.

While some users remain hopeful for a quick fix, others worry that the current release seems rushed and incomplete, particularly when compared to the one seen on the S25 series.

Samsung is currently working on patches to resolve the unlocking bug and other related issues.

The company has reached out for feedback from its global user base while accelerating efforts to stabilize the next rollout.
